Sun Palace

The Sun Palace is a dungeon in 2300 AD. It is located on an island on the southwestern region of the world map. Since it is not reachable on foot, it requires a flight-capable Epoch to visit.

It contains one Key Item and one boss. It is the quickest Key Item check in the Future. It is also the highest-level when Boss Randomization is enabled.

Requirements:

  Game Mode:
Standard: Pendant and completion of the Prison sequence, and a flight-capable Epoch.
  Lost Worlds: A flight-capable Epoch.
  Legacy of Cyrus: Inaccessible.
Ice Age: Pendant and completion of the Prison sequence, and a flight-capable Epoch. =====

Recommendations: Fire-mitigating armor. Son of Sun will cast Flare repeatedly in the encounter, and reducing or eliminating the largest source of damage means fewer turns spent reversing damage and more turns spent finding and hitting the correct flame.

Strategy

Son of Sun will rotate between Roulette Shuffle (rotates the position of the Flames), Flare (high Fire-based damage against entire party), and single-target Shadow-elemental laser. The eye in the center will always counterattack with Flare and should not be directly attacked (with one exception, see note below).

Wait for Roulette Shuffle to be used once, as no Flames will become vulnerable until then. Afterwards, attack the Flames, one at a time (hitting “left” once from Son of Sun to target the Flame third from the left seems to have a high success rate). If you've hit the incorrect Flame, that character will receive a Fire-based counterattack. If you've hit the correct Flame, you'll hear a *ding* sound, and Son of Sun will take a little over 200 damage. Once you have identified the correct Flame, attack it 10 times total.

Son of Sun must then get its next ATB turn before you see the battle message “Son of Sun's losing its fire…”. This denotes you've won. You will, however, have a small window here: if you're using Ayla and want to Charm Son of Sun, you may now do so without taking a Flare counterattack in return. Shortly thereafter, all of the targets will auto-terminate.

If you don't defeat Son of Sun before its second Roulette Shuffle, repeat your search to find the correct Flame and continue attacking it until Son of Sun is defeated.
